Subject: Workshop report

Hello everyone!

It has been some time since the Friends of False Creek held a workshop to kick off the creation of a False Creek Roundtable. I am pleased to enclose the report of the workshop, titled THINKING ABOUT FALSE CREEK. You are invited to consider the report and send us any comments you may have. We would appreciate any thoughts you have about False Creek, the Workshop, or the proposed False Creek Roundtable.
As a result of the clear sentiment that emerged at the end of the Workshop in favour of forming a False Creek Roundtable, we are moving toward creation of a temporary Startup (not "steering") Committee, whose function will be to organize an inaugural meeting of the False Creek Roundtable. We believe the Startup Committee should be as broadly representative as possible. It should include people from business, homeowners, boaters, environmental groups, community organizations, academics and engineers, as well as representatives from all levels of government. The Startup Committee will be in charge of meeting logistics and a proposed agenda for the first, formative Roundtable meeting, which is anticipated to happen this fall.

We would like to have the first meeting of the Startup Committee in late September. Please consider nominating yourself or someone you know for Roundtable Startup Committee membership by providing contact information and a brief background describing your interest either to me or to Fred Mah, Chair of the Friends of False Creek. Fred can be reached at (604) 879-5550 or by email at fredmah@shaw.ca.

Thank you for your interest in the future of False Creek.
